This colloquium is devoted to the analysis, characterization, application and design of dynamical systems with dimensions of a few micro or nanometres. It is intended to create a fruitful environment for discussions between researchers working on any of the multiple fields of interest, from structural mechanics aspects to sensing and actuation. Within the previously described framework (see also “Home”), the topics of interest include:

- applications in sensing, actuation, energy harvesting, and biotechnology;
- analysis of CNTs, graphene sheets and other micro/nano structures;
- atomistic-based models;
- chaotic dynamics;
- contact and non-smooth dynamics;
- couple stress theories;
- damping, quality factor;
- experiments at the micro and nano scales;
- fluid–structure interactions;
- linear and non-linear dynamics of micro and nano systems;
- molecular dynamics;
- non-local theories;
- parametric excitation; sub-harmonic, super-harmonic and internal resonances;
- piezoelectric, electrostatic and electromagnetic sensing/actuation;
- strain gradient elasticity;
- surface effects;
- van der Waals and Casimir forces.
